Full food production line — Reiser and JLS Automation scope Ten stages of a food production line, grouped into four zones — Prepare/Portion/Form, Load/Seal, Case/Carton/Collate, Palletize/Wrap. Each stage is color-coded by who provides it: JLS-built robotic automation in purple, equipment available through Reiser's portfolio in blue, and scope-dependent partner equipment in gray. Three neutral bands below group the stages into primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging tiers. Prepare. Portion. Form. Load. Seal. Case. Carton. Collate. Palletize. JLS engineers the robotics that load the package, build the case, and fill the carton.

How to read it: Time and product flow left-to-right, processing through palletizing. The four condensed headlines name what each zone does. Box color shows who provides each stage — vibrant purple is JLS Automation, muted blue is equipment available through Reiser's portfolio, and gray is scope-dependent partner equipment. The three colored bands at the bottom name the packaging-tier hierarchy (primary → secondary → tertiary), which is the vocabulary CPG brand owners and packaging engineers use most often.

Packaging tier reference

Primary, secondary, tertiary — what each tier means.

When customers talk about packaging engineering rather than line layout, they switch to this hierarchy. Same line, different vocabulary. Be fluent in both.

TIER 1 · PRIMARY

Touches the product

The package that physically holds the product — thermoformed pocket, sealed tray, vacuum pouch, skin pack. Stages 04–05.

Equipment: JLS TALON® / KESTREL load the cavity → Reiser-distributed thermoformer or tray sealer closes the seal.

TIER 2 · SECONDARY

Groups primary packs

Corrugated case, folding carton, multipack, display tray, shrink bundle. Built from primary packs for retail or distribution. Stages 06–08.

Equipment: JLS OSPREY® (case), JLS PEREGRINE® IS (carton), JLS HAWK / PATTY HAWK (specialty case).

TIER 3 · TERTIARY

Builds the shipping unit

Pallet of cases, stretch wrap, slip sheets, top sheet. The unit that gets loaded onto a truck. Stages 09–10.

Equipment: Partner palletizing systems build the pallet → load securement closes out the line.

The combined story

One continuous line. Two specialists.

Reiser — Robert Reiser & Co., a leading food processing and primary-packaging equipment company — delivers the line up to the seal.
JLS engineers the robotics from there through case packing and cartoning.

No customer wants to integrate four vendors. With the JLS + Reiser partnership, two specialists cover the full chain — processing through secondary packaging — with the engineering depth that comes from each focusing on what they do best.
