Better machines start with smarter thinking. Meet the technology inside JLS.
Seventy years of automation engineering, focused on food today — distilled into proprietary tooling, controls, and design. Multiple U.S. patents, all in food packaging, engineered, programmed, and tested in-house in York, Pennsylvania.
Vacuum-on-board tooling.
JLS-engineered VOB 2.0 (vacuum-on-board) tooling was designed to pick wet, sticky, slippery, and fragile products — raw proteins, soft cheeses, and more. By generating vacuum right at the tool, VOB 2.0 uses 50%+ less compressed air than conventional vacuum systems and simplifies sanitation changeover.
- 50%+ less compressed air than conventional vacuum systems
- Engineered to handle wet, sticky & fragile products
- 2D and 3D vision-guided
- Tool-less, recipe-driven changeover
More technology you won’t find anywhere else.
Named, patented, and purpose-built for food — the technologies that let our engineers solve difficult food-handling applications.
PBT — positive board transport
Positive board control through forming, in a compact footprint — a patent-pending approach on the Peregrine IS integrated cartoner that also eliminates additional glue guns for multiple formed cartons, reducing parts, maintenance, and changeover.
JLS TRAK
A high-speed transport track with dynamic pitch changes that keeps products precisely spaced at full line speed.
PCT — positive carton transport
Holds cartons in positive control from forming through loading, reducing drops and jams versus open transport.
V-TRACK pick conveyor
Presents product to the robot in a controlled, vision-friendly stream for fast, accurate picking on the Osprey CL.
PIVT pick sensing
Vacuum-pressure pick sensing confirms every pick in real time, for reliable, verified picking.
Laser-guided delta
A non-vision, laser-guided delta with mechanically actuated grippers, built to IP69K for case packing frozen IQF patties.
Vision-guided robotics
2D and 3D machine vision lets JLS robots find, orient, and place irregular food products at production speed.
Design for Agility
Recipe-driven, tool-less changeover so one line can run many SKUs with minimal downtime.
Recognized across the industry.
Manufacturing Innovator Award
Honored for our relentless commitment to innovation, new-product development, and advancing technology in manufacturing.
Best-in-class — Automation & Robotics
Top honors for the Peregrine IS Robotic Cartoning System, recognized as best-in-class for automation and robotics in the baking industry.
We write the software. We back the support. We don’t stop until you’re running.
At most automation companies, the controls, vision, and software get farmed out to third-party integrators. Not at JLS. Every line of code — the PLC logic, the machine vision, the HMI your operators touch — is written by JLS engineers in York, PA, on commercially available B&R Automation hardware.
That changes everything for you. When something needs to change, we change it. When you call for support, you reach JLS’s in-house support team, working directly with the people who wrote your software — not a vendor’s vendor. No overseas hand-offs, no finger-pointing, no waiting weeks to get scheduled in. Just one accountable team that knows your system inside and out and can react fast to keep your line running.
And because we own the code, JLS can adapt it when your products, packaging, or SKUs change — scoped as a service engagement, years after install.
- PLC controls, machine vision & operator HMI — all written by JLS engineers
- Commercially available B&R Automation hardware — standard, sourceable components
- In-house support with direct access to the engineers who built your system
- Faster changes, faster service, one point of accountability
- Software JLS can adapt as your products change — scoped as a service engagement, years after install
See it proven on your product.
Send us your product and we’ll run it on real JLS robotics in our York, PA Flight Lab — with the tooling and technology configured for your application.
