Integrated food packaging systems — one accountable lead

One line. Many moving parts.
Our team makes them work together.

JLS customers can work with one accountable automation lead for robotic primary handling — including multi-vendor lines, where JLS engineers third-party processing and packaging equipment into one coordinated system, cartoning, and case packing — from processing infeed through final output. Same controls platform end to end. One team owns every seam. One line, engineered for operational certainty from infeed to output.

JLS integrated systems are complete robotic packaging lines where primary product handling, cartoning, and case packing — plus compatible upstream and downstream equipment — are engineered, programmed, and supported by one team. Through a long-standing relationship with Reiser, JLS also coordinates processing and portioning equipment so food manufacturers can plan the full line from a single accountable partner.

Why one accountable integrator

Uncoordinated lines fail at the seams.

When primary handling, cartoning, and case packing are bought separately with no one owning the whole line, what fails first is usually the integration between them — different timing assumptions, different support contracts, no single point of accountability. JLS engineers the full line as one system — JLS robotics at the core, and multi-vendor equipment integrated and coordinated by JLS where the application calls for it.

Designed to grow with you

Many processors start with one cell — primary handling or case packing — and expand to a fully integrated line later. JLS designs each phase to fit the eventual complete system so nothing gets stranded when you add the next stage.

*IP69K-capable: JLS can engineer integrated systems to IP69K; actual sanitation rating depends on the specific machine configuration and application requirements. Some machines and stages (for example, Hawk) are rated to a different ingress-protection ceiling; JLS will confirm the applicable rating for each stage during the proposal process.

Integrated lines we've built

Complete lines for specific food formats.

Each integrated line is engineered around a specific product family — combining robotic primary handling, line coordination, and packaging into one coordinated system. Click any line to see the full build.

The full line

Four stages, one architecture.

All JLS line stages share the same B&R Automation controls platform. One recipe changeover propagates across the full line. One team programs, commissions, and supports every stage.

JLS + Reiser

Full-line capability from processing to final output.

Through a long-standing relationship with Reiser, JLS helps food manufacturers plan and source the complete line — from processing and portioning equipment through robotic primary handling, cartoning, case packing, and final output coordination. Two specialists. One accountable result.

JLS + Reiser Integrated Systems

One team from the first machine to the last.

When you source a full line through JLS and Reiser, you get a single point of contact for mechanical design, controls programming, integration, commissioning, and long-term support — across every stage, from upstream processing through to final output. No seam left unowned.

JLS designs, builds, and programs the robotic primary handling and downstream stages on B&R Automation controls. Reiser contributes processing, portioning, and forming expertise — coordinated so every stage feeds the next without handshake gaps.

Integrated packaging systems FAQs

Common questions on cost, scope, controls, Reiser partnership, phasing, and testing — answered by JLS application engineers.

Integrated line cost varies widely with scope — JLS provides a project-specific quote after an engineering review of your line. Most projects evaluate payback in the 24–36 month range, with labor savings that scale with the platform, line speed, and labor model. JLS reviews the full line to size both the investment and the return.

An integrated packaging system is a complete robotic line where primary product handling, case packing, cartoning — plus your upstream and downstream equipment — are engineered to work together as one coordinated solution from a single supplier, rather than as separate machines.

JLS integrates primary product handling, robotic case packing, cartoning, and end-of-line operations, coordinated with thermoformers, tray sealers, flow wrappers, conveyors, checkweighers, metal detection, labeling — designed, built, and programmed as one system.

A single supplier means one team owns the mechanical design, controls programming, integration, and support — no finger-pointing between vendors. JLS designs, programs (in-house controls), builds, and supports the whole line, so the system runs as one and is supported by the people who built it.

Yes. JLS coordinates with thermoformers, tray sealers, flow wrappers, checkweighers, metal detectors, and labelers, and partners with Reiser to integrate upstream processing equipment so the full line works together.

Often, yes. Many processors start with one cell — primary handling or case packing — and expand to a fully integrated line later. JLS designs with that growth path in mind so each phase fits the eventual complete system.

Yes. JLS integrated systems can be built to IP69K-capable construction with NEMA 4X controls and open-frame sloped stainless — wash-down capable and designed to fit USDA-inspected and FDA-regulated plants.

JLS programs controls in-house on B&R Automation, so the entire line shares one control philosophy and one point of support. JLS's in-house support team provides remote diagnostics, on-site service, training, and preventive maintenance — working directly with the team that designed and built the system.

It depends on scope, line speed, and shift schedule, but an integrated line can take over multiple repetitive manual positions from primary loading through end of line, while improving consistency, ergonomics, food safety, and uptime.

Yes. Before any capital commitment, JLS runs your actual product in our Flight Lab with tooling configured for it and validates the application on your real product before final line design.

Often, yes. The design depends on available floor space, line layout, product flow, controls, sanitation access, and existing equipment. JLS reviews the full plant so the integrated line fits the way it actually runs.
