"PFEW is a great organization that helps students learn the value of business management, leadership and free enterprise. They do a tremendous job of bringing the business community together with students who ultimately learn valuable life and business lessons."

- JLS® President, Craig Souser

Here is a little more about Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week from their website. Check out their website for more information on this organization https://www.pfew.org/

Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) is an extensive program educating high school students about the American Free Enterprise System. PFEW brings motivated students together with business professionals throughout the state. For more than forty years, this unique concept has been used to educate the lives of over 50,000 young adults.

During the week, participants are not only learning to appreciate our free enterprise system but are also seeing from a practitioner’s perspective what exactly it takes to be successful in this increasingly competitive global marketplace.  The companies these students create are simulating what the actual operation would be of their own business for about three years. The student companies are mentored by dedicated business professional volunteers who are serving as Company Advisors, as well as facing all the real-world decisions that actual executives would be confronted by. Sharing their business knowledge and expertise, these Company Advisors address the most significant issues facing business today.

Including multiple motivational speakers and interactive learning exercises, this special program gives eager students a real-life educational experience. Scholarship winners know how to grasp the value of teamwork, cooperation and leadership. Provided with an unbelievable opportunity to develop interpersonal communication skills.

Why is PFEW important?

Pennsylvania businesses are remaining competitive, so it is crucial that our workforce has an understanding and appreciation of all the challenges businesses face within the community.  Last year, over two thousand students had the ability to share the challenge and adventure of PFEW. Those who practice business today have translated the real world of private enterprise for the leaders of tomorrow. An educational program truly like no other, PFEW is the opportunity that every eager student should have to experience.
